Key Biscayne Community Foundation Joins Forces with The Everglades Foundation to Bring Awareness of Everglades Issues to Key Biscayne

Key Biscayne, FL (November 27, 2023) – The Key Biscayne Community Foundation (KBCF), in collaboration with The Everglades Foundation, will be holding a reception on November 28 to bring awareness of Everglades issues to Key Biscayne.

The Everglades Foundation works to restore and protect America’s Everglades through science, advocacy, and education. The Everglades, nicknamed the River of Grass by Marjory Stoneman Douglas in 1947, plays a primary role in capturing and replenishing the source of Miami-Dade County’s (and, by extension, much of South Florida’s) drinking water. A healthy Everglades recharges the Biscayne Aquifer, the source of freshwater in Miami-Dade. This includes the water that Key Biscayne residents drink and use throughout our daily lives—from cooking and bathing to filling our swimming pools.

Through this collaboration, the Key Biscayne Community Foundation and The Everglades Foundation aim to educate Key Biscayne residents on the importance of the Everglades and how they can contribute to the continued efforts to restore and protect a vital ecosystem unlike anywhere else in the world.

Reception Details:

Location: Key Biscayne Yacht Club
Date: November 28, 2023
