O, Miami Poetry Festival

Need some poetry in your life, but stuck in quarantine? This year’s O, Miami’s month long poetry festival will be digital!

From O, Miami: “To produce anything that would increase the risk to your health this April would be counter to our mission.

So instead, we’re going online.

This April, O, Miami will be creating original digital programming that will come to you via email, social media, and other digital platforms. A lot of this programming will be highly experimental, and as such, we welcome your comments, not just your hearts and likes.

This online programming will also allow us to honor our commitments to artists. Many of the artists we had planned to feature this April depend on festivals like ours to pay rent, bills, childcare costs, etc. We do not wish to contribute to a situation that may cause them economic hardship, nor put them in the position of weighing their wellbeing against their livelihood. On the bright side, we’re looking forward to trying new things with people we love and respect, and we hope you’ll be supportive of those efforts.”

A special shoutout to the Foundation’s own Free Plastic who will be hosting the Plastic Poetry Workshop on April 22, 2020 at 3:05pm.

“Join Free Plastic, Inc. in a making challenge to source and process materials to create letters out of refuse—then stay for a creative writing workshop where your work might be selected as the next poem to be featured in the greater Miami community.

Poet and Instructor Caroline Cabrera will lead participants in a place-based metaphor workshop focused on Miami and our environment.”
