Corona Caring Fund

The Corona Caring Fund

The Coronavirus Pandemic is having a profound effect on individuals’ ability to earn money. Numerous folks have recently applied for unemployment or have been furloughed. Many are employees who live paycheck to paycheck and may not have the resources to cover their basic expenses. The Corona Caring Fund was established in an effort to help reduce the uncertainty that stems from unexpected unemployment as a result of the crisis.

The Corona Caring Fund’s mission is to provide a mechanism to assist these employees obtain groceries for themselves and their families during their time unemployed.

The first group to receive aid are the employees of Miami Plastic Surgery (MPS), where 28 of the 31 employees have been placed on furlough as of March 20, 2020. With success and additional funding secured, we will expand to other affected members of the Key Biscayne community. (Applications are no longer being accepted at this time)

You will need to supply your name, address, email address, occupation, household size, and preferred grocery store (Publix or Winn Dixie). Grants will be reviewed on a weekly basis and will award up to $100 on a gift card to their designated grocer. (Applications are no longer being accepted at this time)

Note: individuals may reapply for additional support every two weeks, and the maximum award is $100 per two weeks. Gift cards will be delivered via the Key Biscayne Community Foundation.

Thank you to the Corona Caring Fund committee: Mike Kelly, Christy San Jorge, Teresa Hoffman, and Anne Rothe.

We hope that the Corona Caring Fund will be able to make a direct impact to help the unemployed MPS staff feed their family at a time of financial hardship.
