Oliver Forever Strong Foundation
The Oliver Forever Strong Foundation is dedicated to advancing research on the causes of pediatric cancer. Our primary focus is to raise funds for this crucial research through various soccer-related events and activities on a rolling, per-project basis in the United States and Latin America.
Our first project aims to provide ultra-durable soccer balls to underprivileged communities. We are actively engaging corporate, sports, and entertainment sponsors, and we anticipate comprehensive media coverage to raise awareness about the urgent need for intensified scientific research into the prevention and causes of pediatric cancer.
According to reputable sources such as the National Cancer Institute, leading cancers in children, including leukemia, brain tumors, and lymphoma, have known and suspected causes such as ionizing radiation, herbicides, pesticides, asbestos, chemicals (including benzene), solvents, and paints, electric and magnetic fields, and exposure to infections.
To ensure transparent handling of funds, all donations are made through our fiscal sponsor, the Key Biscayne Community Foundation. Their mission is to enable, facilitate, and empower individuals to contribute positively to the local, greater, and global community through programs, grant-making, fiscal scholarships, and community leadership.
Oliver’s sudden passing on June 18, 2015, just 36 hours after being diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML), has inspired us to share his passions and ideals with broader communities. We aim to bring hope, light, and genuine happiness to disadvantaged youths who share Oliver’s love for soccer but lack the necessary equipment and resources. Additionally, we are committed to intensifying the search for environmental causes contributing to the rising incidence of pediatric cancer.
Donations received will be utilized to raise public awareness about the necessity of research into the causes of pediatric cancer to prevent this devastating disease.
As part of our awareness campaign targeting families, the media, and governments, we will deliver sponsored ultra-durable, hand-stitched soccer balls to underprivileged communities in Florida and Colombia. These soccer balls will be ceremoniously presented by high-profile national soccer champions, particularly goalkeepers, to attract media attention and highlight our mission.
We have partnered with Senda, a Fair Trade Certified soccer ball manufacturer. This certification ensures that the manufacturing process meets stringent social, economic, and environmental criteria. It guarantees the protection of workers’ health and safety, prohibits child labor, ensures fair wages for all workers in the supply chain, and provides additional funds for community and economic development to the manufacturers.
