The new school year is upon us and brings promises of new friends, exciting activities and a positive future! For many children and adolescents, back-to-school activities include fall sports, band, music lessons, scouting, cheerleading, art, drama, dance and more. Sadly, many foster children are often unable to participate in these activities due to lack of finances.

You can make a difference for these disadvantaged children by joining The Keith Brooking Children’s Foundation’s 30 X 30 X 30 Campaign.

The Keith Brooking Children’s Foundation is committed to impacting the lives of foster children by fulfilling specific needs that are not or cannot be met through their foster families or residential facilities. The Defining Opportunity Program makes it possible for foster children to participate in sports, music, arts and other school activities. Their involvement in these programs help them build self-esteem, fit in with their peers, and provides them a chance to develop their talents and pursue their dreams.

We believe that we have the opportunity to transform the lives of the foster children who participate in our program. Keith and I would be deeply grateful if you would change a child’s life by joining our 30 x 30 x 30 Campaign today! It’s simple:

- Donate $30 to the campaign before September 30

- Forward this message to 30 friends

- Invite 30 friends to donate $30, forward to 30 friends and join us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/kbcforg

Don’t forget to join us on Facebook and forward to 30 friends! By doing so, you will raise funds and create awareness among 900 people in our communities. Moreover, you will create life-changing experiences for abused, abandoned and neglected children.

Come out and enjoy a great line-up of performers coming to the Lions Club Fair Grounds in Louisville, GA on April 16th. Friends of the foundation in the country music industry are set to perform to help raise money for the foster children that we serve.

With 5 young members, Brent Stephens, Dan Baker, Dan Kitchens, Ryan Ray, and David Pierce, they have developed a large fanbase throughout the Southeast by concentrating their performances in college towns. They began performing as a band in 2007 and base their set list around modern country, classic rock, 90′s rock, and some original tunes as well. Feeding off the energy of the crowd Southbound aims to please at any venue.

CRAIG MORGAN

One of country music’s best-loved artists, Craig Morgan has made a name for himself with massive radio airplay of his signature hits: “Bonfire,” “Almost Home,” “Redneck Yacht Club,” “That’s What I Love About Sunday” (Billboard’s most-played country song of the year in 2005), and “International Harvester.” Craig’s current single, “Still A Little Chicken Left On That Bone,” is the first single from his forthcoming new album. Craig received one of country music’s highest honors when he was inducted as a member of the Grand Ole Opry in 2008. Prior to becoming a country music star, Craig Morgan spent over 10 years of active duty in the Army and additional years in the Army Reserves. He is an avid supporter of America’s military personnel and a recipient of the 2006 USO Merit Award.
DARYLE SINGLEARY
Hardcore country traditionalist, Daryle Singletary, has built a career based on musical integrity. “When I moved to Nashville in 1990, I left Georgia telling my Daddy, ‘I want to make my living in country music,’” Daryle recalls. “I didn’t tell him I wanted to be played on the radio every day or be on the video channel every day. I said, ‘I want to make a living playing for the people who enjoy my kind of music.’ Fortunately and thankfully, I have been able to do that since 1995.” Daryle is certainly ‘rockin’ the country’ with his highly anticipated and awesome new HIT CD release “ROCKIN’ IN THE COUNTRY” from E1 Music.

HEIDI NEWFIELD

Already having made a name for herself as the highly energetic front woman of country trio Trick Pony, Heidi Newfield decided upon a solo career, and in November of 2006 announced that she was leaving the group and going it alone. The Heldsburg, CA-raised Newfield was exposed to the music she would make a career out of at an early age. With her love of country, blues, and rock in tow, Newfield made her first attempts at stardom at the very young age of 13, taking a trip to Nashville to cut a demo. In 1996, she joined up with Keith Burns and Ira Dean to form Trick Pony. The group would go on

to release a handful of Top 20 singles, and won an ACM Best New Artist Award. After announcing that she was to leave the aforementioned band, Newfield went into the studio to begin work on her debut solo album, a collection of work that was to touch on a number of moods and styles. The leadoff single and track from the eventual full-length, “Johnny and June,” was a Top 40 hit on the Billboard Hot Country charts in the spring of 2008.

The day following Super Bowl, Dallas is still a buzz of excitement from all of the parties leading up to the big game. Albertsons Super Fan Fest at the House of Blues on January 25th was as first big shindig to kick off the festivities. The event hosted more than 1,500 party-goers with proceeds benefitting The Keith Brooking Children’s Foundation and the Souper Bowl of Caring food drive. The night’s activities included a casino, a Keith Brooking Celebrity Roast, put on by his fellow Dallas Cowboys teammates, a buffet, live music, and raffles and auctions, with all proceeds going to the charities. Several current and former Dallas Cowboys players, including Tony Romo, Tony Dorsett, Nate Newton, Larry Brown, Tashard Choice, Sean Lee, Miles Austin, and of course Keith Brooking, were spotted amidst the enthusiastic crowd. Two guests scored big in the live auction winning lunch with Miles Austin for $3,000 each! Special thanks to underwriters Alberstons and Westway Ford for their contributions that helped make the night was a huge success for both the patrons and the children.

Sitting in the middle of an Arlington comedy club were a sixteen year old boy and a NFL linebacker, quietly chatting and taking pictures in the midst of nearly 300 people, who decided to come out and celebrate a special event. The Improv Comedy Club in Arlington served as the location for fans to come out and celebrate the launching of Cowboys’ Linebacker Keith Brooking’s Foundation in Dallas. Inspired by his mother, who was a foster parent during his childhood, Brooking started the Keith Brooking Children’s Foundation in Atlanta, Georgia in 2003, to serve the needs of foster children in the area. Brooking saw a need to bring the organization to his new home here in Dallas after his first season with the Dallas Cowboys.

According to the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services 2009 statistics, there were over 5,000 children in foster care around the North Texas area. The KBCF wants to make an impact on the lives of those through different events in Dallas. On September 11th, the Keith Brooking Children’s Foundation will be the beneficiary of the Dallas City Chase event, which is an event where people will run, walk and use public transit to navigate through the city. First, the KBCF hosted hundreds of fans last week to draw attention to foundation’s decision to set roots in the Dallas area.

Hundreds of fans were drawn to dozens of Cowboys memorabilia located in the front of the Improv for several hours this past Tuesday. There were items such as autographed Tashard Choice jerseys, Don Meredith jerseys, autographed Tony Romo jerseys and dozens of other items that fans swarmed during the event. Some people were even lucky enough to meet the five time Pro Bowl linebacker before the event even kicked off.

Sixteen year old Michael sat near the center of the Improv Comedy Club when Brooking approached him for a few words, and to present the young Cowboys fan with a few gifts as well. Michael seemed to enjoy every minute of it since Keith Brooking is one of his favorite players. You could tell that the young fan was in a state bliss as he wore a huge Kool-Aid smile. Afterwards Michael said, “It made me feel real happy… I enjoyed him”

Fans lined up after the show to get a photo with Brooking and express their gratitude for his efforts as well. Joseph Stephens of Euless said, “I’ve had some experiences with foster kids and I love to see these types of charity events to help these kids that people often forget about.”

Keith Brooking has touched many Cowboys fans in 2009 by his passion on the field; however it may pale in comparison to how his organization will touch many others off the field in 2010.
