As a child, Keith Brooking loved football. Although he was a solid athlete at East Coweta High School in Senoia, Georgia, finances were limited and no Division One colleges knew of him. His dreams of playing football past high school seemed an impossibility. Until, that is, a friend paid for Keith to attend a Georgia Tech football camp.  A friend stood in the gap and did for Keith what he could not do for himself.

It was a "defining opportunity," it turns out, because Keith was offered a scholarship to Georgia Tech on the first day of that summer camp. That single act of generosity from a friend provided him an opportunity - an opportunity to earn an excellent education, as well as a chance to play Division One college football. This opportunity led to becoming the top tackler in the ACC and the leading tackler in the history of Georgia Tech; becoming a first round draft pick of the Atlanta Falcons; becoming a five-time Pro Bowler; and becoming recognized for his deep commitment to his community.

Ultimately, it was that one gesture that has allowed him to earn the privilege to bring these same opportunities to thousands of foster children, children whose passions and talents are thwarted simply because of life circumstances - situations of which they have no control.
